Who We Are
The New England Network for Justice for Palestine (NENJP) connects a wide range of Affiliates working to remedy human rights violations against Palestinians. To maximize collective effectiveness, Affiliates share information, experiences, capabilities, and resources. The first organizational meeting was held in January 2013. Meetings for interested parties are held three times a year.
FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES
The New England Network for Justice for Palestine is founded on the following principles:
To raise public awareness in the United States about the denial of rights for Palestinians.
To support efforts to foster justice, equality, and peace for Palestinians in accordance with international humanitarian and human rights law, United Nations resolutions, and principles of non-violence.
To expect that all NENJP Affiliates and Listserv Subscribers participating in the Network commit to do so without racial, cultural, ethnic, religious, or other biases. Hate speech or writing (whether appearing on our Listserv, expressed at a meeting, or originating outside the Network and reported to the Managers of the Listserve) that contravenes this principle may result in temporary or permanent suspension of that Affiliate or Subscriber from Listserv participation, meeting attendance, and the Network.
NENJP STRUCTURE
The New England Network for Justice for Palestine is a group of independent Affiliates that advocate for justice, equality, and peace for all Palestinians.
Affiliates pay modest dues to cover operational expenses: domain (www.nenjp.org) registration, web hosting, Listserv operations, meeting space rental, and occasional small donations to initiatives that support Palestinians.
The Network operates informally, without bylaws and officers. Volunteers provide scheduling, treasury, secretarial, and administrative services. Consensus is the basis for decisions.
WHAT NENJP DOES
NENJP fosters beneficial interaction and coordination among the Network's Affiliates and activists.
NENJP schedules three meetings per year for sharing information about recent activities, initiatives, campaigns, and actions.
NENJP maintains a website (www.nenjp.org) where Affiliates and the public may read details about the Affiliate groups, post events on a unified calendar, access NENJP’s Listserv guidelines, and contact NENJP with questions or comments via the “Contact Us” tab.
NENJP operates an internet listserv that facilitates contact and interaction among Affiliates and Subscribers.
WHAT NENJP DOES NOT DO
NENJP does not initiate or engage in policy making, fund-raising, or advocacy on its own behalf.
NENJP does not take positions on potentially divisive issues that would conflict with Affiliates’ missions or statements of purpose.
