1/15 - 1/22 (Anywhere) Free Ahmad Sa'adat and all Palestinian Prisoners! Week of Action January 15-22 (Samidoun)

Free Ahmad Sa’adat and all Palestinian Prisoners! Week of Action January 15-22, 2025

15 January 2025 marks the 23rd anniversary of the detention of Ahmad Sa’adat – Palestinian national and leftist leader, and the General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – by the so-called “Palestinian Authority,” as part of its “security coordination” with the zionist occupation. Since then (23 years!), he has been detained, first in the PA jails. Later, he was abducted by the zionist entity on March 14th, 2006.

Join us to take action on 15-22 January 2025 for the Week of Action to Free Ahmad Sa’adat and all Palestinian Prisoners!

>> Click here to Endorse the Week of Action (Organizational Endorsements) <<

This annual call to action is particularly urgent this year for two reasons:

1) The collaboration of the treacherous Palestinian Authority, which inflicts repression on the Palestinian people to maintain its own position of privilege and collaboration with the zionist entity. With the funding and support of the imperialist powers, this has accelerated in a particularly dangerous manner amid the ongoing genocide. Since 7 October 2023, the PA has taken the lives of 18 Palestinian martyrs and is currently waging an ongoing siege against the resistance in Jenin camp. It continues to imprison dozens of Palestinian political prisoners, including Palestinian students, while firing on the resistance forces defending Palestinian land.

2) This is an urgent moment for the potential prisoners exchange sought by the Palestinian Resistance. Contrary to zionist and imperialist propaganda, the Resistance is the primary force seeking a meaningful prisoner exchange combined with the complete withdrawal of the genocidal zionist forces from the Gaza Strip. One of the highest priorities of the prisoner exchange is releasing the leaders of the resistance held in Zionist jails, with high sentences, that the regime has refused to release in past exchanges, including Ahmad Sa’adat, Marwan Barghouti, Abdullah Barghouti, Abbas al-Sayyed, Hassan Salameh, Ibrahim Hamed, Mahmoud al-Ardah, and others.

Palestinian prisoners are Resistance leaders, on the front lines for justice and liberation, enduring hunger strikes and struggling relentlessly with an unbreakable will toward freedom amid the most dire conditions of torture, abuse, medical neglect and deliberate killing. Since October 2023, they are facing exponential violence from the zionists, a violence that led to the martyrdom of over 50 Palestinian prisoners, with extreme violence particularly directed against the undisclosed number of Palestinians from Gaza abducted by the occupation and held in notorious torture camps like Sde Teiman.

Ahmad Sa’adat is a leader in the Palestinian prisoners’ movement and the Palestinian national liberation movement and a Palestinian, Arab and international symbol of resistance to Zionism, capitalism, racism, apartheid and colonization. Targeted for his political role and clarity of vision, he remains unsilenced and unbroken, despite the oppression imposed upon him and thousands of fellow Palestinian political prisoners.

23 years after his arrest, it is long past time for freedom for Ahmad Sa’adat, his fellow Resistance leaders and all Palestinian Prisoners in Zionist, imperialist, reactionary and Palestinian Authority jails.

32 years after Oslo, it is long past time to expose the so-called Palestinian Authority and bring down its  “security coordination” and treachery against the Palestinian people, in Jenin camp and everywhere.

76 years after al-Nakba, it is long past time for the liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea!

We call for an international week of actions from January 15th to January 22nd, calling for the liberation of Ahmad Sa’adat and his fellow resistance leaders, advancing the demand for a prisoner exchange and an end to the genocide in Gaza and throughout occupied Palestine, and highlighting the malevolent role of the “Palestinian Authority” in the Palestinian liberation struggle. Take action to escalate against the zionist genocidal colonial entity, organise for justice in Palestine!

What can you do at you local level?

  • Endorse the Week of Action to Free Ahmad Sa’adat and all Palestinian Prisoners.

  • Educate through your networks: organise a discussion on Resistance leaders and political prisoners, share resources about Ahmad Sa’adat and Palestinian prisoners on social media and in your community

  • Organise or join a protest or demonstration against the ongoing Zionist-imperialist genocide in Palestine with a contingent, signs or banners for Ahmad Sa’adat and the Palestinian prisoners

  • Organise a demonstration at a PA embassy or similar location to demand an end to the Palestinian Authority’s offensives in Jenin Camp and throughout the West Bank against the People and the Resistance.

  • Organise an event, protest, teach-in stand or letter-writing meeting for the Week of Action.

  • Organise events, actions and protests to demand freedom for Ahmad Sa’adat and all Palestinian Prisoners. Protest in public spaces, campuses and community spaces.

  • Join the social media campaign. Post a photo or a video message calling for freedom for Ahmad Sa’adat and his fellow Palestinian prisoners.

  • Support the liberation of Abla Sa’adat, Ahmad’s wife, imprisoned since September 2024.

  • Use the hashtags #freeallpalestinianprisoners, #freeahmadsaadat

“The Palestinian struggle for national liberation is part and parcel of the international movement of peoples for national liberation, international racial and economic justice, and an end to occupation, colonialism and imperialism.” – Ahmad Sa’adat

Palestine will be free, from the river to the sea!

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025

This year, during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, join Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) and author and ethicist Andrew DeCort, PhD, for a series of prayerful reflections on the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12). From January 18-25th, Andrew will be joined each day at 12:00 EST by a different renowned guest to reflect on one of the beatitudes and pray for a just peace for the Middle East. The Wednesday, January 22nd session will replace our usual weekly prayer time.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is observed each year as an opportunity to explore Christians' shared heritage and to enter more deeply into the faith that unites all us all. This year's overarching global theme, "Do You Believe?" (John 11:26) offers a way to see that faith is not just a static set of beliefs, but an active means of receiving grace.

As the World Council of Churches explains, 2025 also marks the 1700th anniversary of the first Christian Ecumenical Council, held in Nicaea, near Constantinople in 325 AD. This commemoration provides a unique opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the common faith of Christians, as expressed in the creed formulated during this council.

Why Memory Matters in Palestine and Beyond

This three-day webinar, taking place on January 21-23, 2025, is part two of the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience (ICSC's) initiatives aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the ongoing crisis in Palestine and inspiring global action for peace. The webinar will bring together Sites of Conscience members and partners from Bangladesh, South Africa, Northern Ireland, and beyond, to reflect on the root causes of the atrocities committed against Palestinians, the false narratives that sustain them, and the role of memory in confronting such injustices.

Participants will share their experiences offering communities spaces for truth-telling, critical reflection, and dialogue, even in the most dire settings. The discussions aim to inspire critical thinking and action toward building more peaceful societies.

The first part of the initiative, a six-part recorded conversation series, was made available as both a podcast and video on January 13, 2025. This series features experts from Sites of Conscience, academia, human rights, and cultural heritage, offering insights into the historical context and urgent need for change.

Economic Responsibility of Third-Party States Arising from the ICJ Advisory Opinion on Palestine

Jurists for Palestine Forum – Season 3 – Panel Discussion (2)

 For Arabic للغة العربية

Background Economic Responsibility Third States ICJ Palestine

The ICJ Advisory Opinion  and recent UNGA Resolution A/RES/ES-10/24 highlight the legal obligations of states to act against Israel's unlawful occupation of Palestine. The court emphasized that states must sever all economic, financial, and trade relations contributing to the prolongation of the occupation. This includes reviewing trade agreements, investment agreements and ensuring private enterprises and non-profit organizations comply with international law. The ICJ further conveyed to the UN General Assembly the duty of envisioning measures to end the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine.

States have a duty to adopt accountability measures, including targeted sanctions for human rights violations, and to end complicity in maintaining the occupation. These responsibilities extend to enforcing corporate compliance, navigating anti-boycott laws, and leveraging investment and trade frameworks to promote justice and compliance with international norms.

This webinar will explore:

  • General economic state responsibility under international law.

  • Ways forwards for envisioning economic measures by the UN General Assembly.

  • State responsibility under international investment law and international trade law.

  • Corporate responsibility and anti-boycott measures.

  • Practical steps to implement sanctions and dismantle economic complicity.

The discussion will provide actionable insights into addressing these critical issues with input from experts in law, legal practitioners and academics.

The Panel Guests:

In this webinar, we bring together 5 leading experts, as follows:

  1. Shahd Hammori:  Lecturer in Law, Kent University and Senior Advisor, Law for Palestine

  2. Lara Elborno: International Arbitration Lawyer

  3. Kinda Mohamadieh: Senior researcher and legal advisor at Third World Network

  4. Mark Taylor: Author of War Economies and International Law

  5. Tara Van Ho: Senior Lecturer at University of Essex Law School

The discussion will be moderated by: Wesam Ahmad, Head of the Law Center for Applied International Law at Al-Haq

This session will critically answer the following questions:

  1. How does international law define economic state responsibility in the context of violations of jus cogens norms?

  2. What can we learn from precedents in similar contexts of decolonisation?

  3. What practical tools, such as trade sanctions or divestment, can third-party states employ to pressure Israel to cease its actions in Gaza? And what are the tactics needed to take such efforts forward?

  4. How do economic sanctions align with broader state responsibilities to dismantle systems of apartheid and occupation?

  5. How do anti-boycott laws affect third-party state efforts to impose accountability?

  6. What are the challenges and opportunities in enforcing corporate responsibility for activities that perpetuate the occupation?

  7. What practical tools can states employ to disentangle economic relations that sustain the occupation?

Registration is required. Click here to register and join us on Zoom The webinar will be conducted in English. Simultaneous translation into Arabic will be available

1/21 (Online) 1pm - Minds Under Siege: Weaponizing Trauma for War with Naomi Klein, Dr. Gabor Mate and Cecilie Surasky (SAND)

January 21, 2025, 1:00 – 2:30 PM EST - Online

Minds Under Siege: Weaponizing Trauma for War

by Science & Nonduality (SAND)

It’s not re-membering, it’s re-traumatization... a regime of ritualistic reenactments designed to keep the losses as fresh and painful as possible.  — Naomi Klein

We invite you to join us for a rich conversation between journalist Naomi Klein and trauma expert Dr. Gabor Maté, facilitated by filmmaker and radio host Cecilie Surasky, of Jewish Voices for Peace.

Together, they will examine how collective trauma and memory are weaponized for political ends. Drawing from Klein's recent analysis of trauma weaponization in current conflicts and Maté's deep understanding of trauma's psychological impacts, we will explore how media narratives and political rhetoric weaponize fear and trauma to gain public support for military and political actions.

REGISTER

Recommended Donation $25 (note: you can still register without donating if cost is a barrier to attending)

A recording will be available to SAND members and pre-registered participants only

Some of the themes we'll be looking at:

  • The mechanisms through which trauma is weaponized in politics

  • How media and memorial institutions shape collective memory

  • The relationship between trauma, political power, and public consent

  • Alternative approaches to remembrance that could break cycles of violence

This conversation aims to deepen our understanding of how trauma is instrumentalized while exploring possibilities for more healing forms of collective remembrance.

We look forward to your participation in this important discussion.

1/21 (Online) 4pm - Group 18, Session 3: 6-session Tues Book Group (other groups, days, times avail) "Psychoanalysis Under Occupation: Practicing Resistance in Palestine (USA PMHN)

USA Palestine Mental Health Network is an anti-Zionist organization committed to education, advocacy and activism that supports Palestinian liberation. To advance our educational mission, we host reading/discussion groups.

There are openings in these 6-session groups for Psychoanalysis Under Occupation: Practicing Resistance in Palestine  (Routledge, 2022) :

Group 17 : Sundays 1/5/25 - 2/9/25 2 - 3:30 pm EST 1 - 2:30 pm CST

Group 18 : Tuesdays 1/7/25 - 2/11/25 4 - 5:30 pm EST 1 - 2:30 pm PST

Group 19 : Tuesdays 1/14/25 - 2/18/25 7 - 8:30 pm EST 4 - 5:30 pm PST

Group 20 : Thursdays 1/16/25 - 2/20/25 8 - 9:30 pm PST 6 - 7:30 pm HST

This book, co-authored by Professors Lara & Stephen Sheehi, centers the work of Palestinian clinicians to embrace the full subjectivity of Palestinian people who refuse to be solely defined by the occupation and the ongoing genocide. At the same time, the book explains how the occupation has infiltrated the mental health system in Israel/Palestine as well as compromised the mental health of an entire population.

The ongoing racialized violence against Palestinian people is specifically targeting Palestinian children.

There are also openings in these 6-session groups for Incarcerated Childhood and the Politics of Unchilding by Professor Nadera Shalhoub-Kervorkian (Cambridge University Press, 2019).:

Group III: Thursdays 1/30/25 - 3/6/25 8 - 9:30 pm EST 5 - 6:30 pm PST

Group IV: Wednesdays 2/5/25 - 3/12/25 9:30 - 11 am EST 3:30 - 5 pm CET

The book centers the lived experiences of Palestinian children through their own words and the words of their parents. Many of the experiences are unspeakable and the author documents how memories of violations reside in embodied forms, transcending generations within Palestinian families. The author chronicles how the necropolitical practices of the state of Israel cages Palestinian children physically and emotionally, thieving their childhoods in an effort to eliminate them. She models for us how to maintain constant attunement to the sanctity of the body and is vigilant to all the many ways bodies/spirits are violated.

Nadera Shalhoub-Kervorkian is a world-renowned scholar. Her research and publications focus on trauma, state crimes and criminology, surveillance, gender violence, law and society, and genocide.

If reading material that centers Palestinian experience is new for you, we invite you to be honest and transparent about your experience while at the same time allowing for others to lead the way – particularly Palestinian voices and the voices of folks of color.

We suggest a donation between $10 - $100, depending on your resources, to participate in the six-session book group. Donations can be made to USA-PalMHN through our fiscal sponsor Empowerment Works here . This is suggestion and not a requirement to participate in book group.

If you are interested in participating, please contact

1/21 (Zoom) 8pm - Doctors & Taxpayers Against Genocide: CODEPINK Congress Capitol Calling Party

Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 8:00pm - 9:00pm (EST) - Zoom

Doctors & Taxpayers Against Genocide - CODEPINK Congress Capitol Calling Party

Join CODEPINK Congress as we educate, activate and mobilize for peace legislation!

Doctors Against Genocide and Taxpayers Against Genocide are demanding accountability and justice for the victims of the US-backed genocide in Gaza. Currently, a ceasefire agreement has been reached.

Still, the struggle continues to prevent and punish those complicit in genocide.

First, we turn to Doctors Against Genocide, a global coalition of healthcare workers dedicated to succeeding where global governments have failed in confronting and preventing genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. Their “Not Another Child, Not Another Hospital Campaign” invites medical institutions to take a long overdue stand–with vigils and press conferences– against genocide in Gaza–and to demand the release of Palestinian Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya.

Next, we turn to Taxpayers Against Genocide (TAG), plaintiffs in a lawsuit representing 600 constituents charging northern California lawmakers "illegally abused their tax and spend authority when they voted to allocate $26.38 billion in military aid to Israel on April 20, 2024," and that by doing so, they violated the U.S. Constitution, the Genocide Convention, and federal laws.” The complaint has been filed under the Ninth Amendment of the Constitution, which protects rights not otherwise stated in the Constitution.

Featured Guests

Dr. Karameh Kuemmerle is the co-founder of Doctors Against Genocide (DAG), a global network of medical professionals dedicated to confronting genocide and advocating for the protection of healthcare in conflict zones. A Palestinian pediatric neurologist at Boston Children's Hospital and faculty member at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Kuemmerle's work is driven by her commitment to justice and equity in healthcare. Her leadership in DAG stems from personal experience as a Palestinian having witnessed firsthand systematic anti-Palestinian racism that allowed the genocide in Palestine to happen.

Seth Donnelly is the lead plaintiff in a class action lawsuit against northern California congress members who voted to use taxpayer funds to arm Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The case, filed by Taxpayers Against Genocide (TAG), accuses US reps Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) and Mike Thompson (D-St. Helena) of violating multiple domestic laws, including the Leahy Law, that bar aid for military units committing gross human rights violations. Donnely taught public high school for years and is one of the founding members of TAG.

1/21 (Zoom) 8pm - Organizing for Justice in the Era of Trump 2.0 (Reconstructionists Expanding Our Conversation)

Jan 21, 2025 08:00 PM EST - Zoom

Organizing for Justice in the Era of Trump 2.0

A Conversation with Rabbis Benjamin Barnett, Sarah Brammer-Shlay, and Elliott Tepperman

by Reconstructionists Expanding Our Conversation on Israel-Palestine

How should we, as Jews, confront the second Trump presidency? Can Jews be co-conspirators in progressive coalitions and stand in solidarity with communities directly targeted by the Trump administration – immigrants, people of color, LGBTQ people? What should be the place of the struggle for Palestinian rights and for the right to speak out on this issue in the agenda of the broad array of forces that must be mobilized to resist the “America First” MAGA program? How can we navigate staying in progressive political alliances when Israel/Palestine is either strategically used as a wedge issue or there are real differences of opinion?

Registration link

Speaker bios:

Rabbi Benjamin Barnett graduated from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 2006 and has served as the rabbi of Havurah Shalom in Portland, Oregon since 2017. He was involved, both as a facilitator and initial board member, with the organization Encounter, which brings Jewish leaders into East Jerusalem and the West Bank to meet with Palestinians and begin to understand Palestinian realities. His life and leadership were shaped by those encounters, and he strives to integrate their insights and model into his work as a rabbi.

Rabbi Sarah Brammer-Shlay graduated from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 2022. She serves as the Dean of Religious Life and Chaplain at Grinnell College in Iowa. At the core of her identity as a Jewish leader and community organizer is the desire for people to get out of isolation and into connection. She has more than 15 years of community organizing experience in a variety of fields, including, but not limited to, Israel/Palestine, labor, feminism, workers’ rights and health care. She was a co-founder of IfNotNow and has served in various roles for the Center for Jewish Nonviolence.

Rabbi Elliott Tepperman has been the spiritual leader of Bnai Keshet, in Montclair, NJ since 2002 when he graduated from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. There he has worked to foster spiritually courageous Judaism as a springboard for building community and engaging with the world. By Art History, Visual & Critical Studies, Honors

Wafa Ghnaim, curator for the Museum of the Palestinian People in Washington, D.C. and Senior Research Fellow for The Metropolitan Museum of Art in the Ancient Near East, intertwines memory, history, politics and embroidery in sharing traditional Palestinian patterns and stories passed on to her by her mother.

This talk is in conjunction with the student-curated exhibition in the Flatiron Project Space, Land of the Olive Groves, January 9-January 25, 2025.

She released her second publication THOBNA (2023) to celebrate Palestinian embroidery as a powerful form of resistance over the past century. January 20, 7:00 PM EST - Livestream

‘For Such a Time As This’: MLK Day event to uplift prophetic message for the current moment

On Jan. 20, the annual commemoration of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy will coincide with the inauguration of President Donald Trump’s second term.

With this symbolic overlap, the United Church of Christ and a coalition of interfaith partners are hosting a national Interfaith Service and Moral Mass Meeting to address this critical moment. It is an invitation for people of faith and moral conviction to rise together and respond to deep injustices that exist within the nation.

King’s legacy demonstrates the need for people in the current moment to speak up, to speak out, and to be advocates, emphasized the UCC General Minister and President the Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson.

“As we step into what it means to have new leadership in the United States, we’re also stepping into what it means to continue the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., to continue to say that all are created equal, to continue to lend our voice to not being silent, to continue to hold space for understanding the interconnectedness of us as people,” Thompson said. “This event is about casting vision, it’s about lending voice, and it’s definitely about not becoming silent in the face of fear.”

All are invited to gather For Such a Time As This: A Prophetic Response to America’s Defining Moment on Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. CT / 7 p.m. ET, which can be attended in person and virtually.

The live event — which will also be live streamed — will be held at the Healing Cathedral Christian Church in Memphis, Tennessee, the city that King visited several times and where he spent his last days supporting the Memphis Sanitation Workers’ Strike before his assassination in April 1968. People interested in attending in person or virtually are encouraged to register for the event

The livestream link will be posted on UCC.org on January 20, 2025

1/20 (Zoom) 3pm - The Criminalization of Student Activism in the History of Modern Genocide (Workshops 4 Gaza)

The Criminalization of Student Activism in the History of Modern Genocide

Join Workshops 4 Gaza on January 20th at 3pm EST for an in-depth discussion with @roderickferguson94 about the relationship between modern genocides and student protests 🔥

Step 1: Donate to Sameer Project here (suggested donation $60).

Step 2: Register for “The Criminalization of Student Protest” here.

This workshop turns to the history of the targeting of civilian populations in 20th century wars as a means of deterrence and subjugation. Historically, student protests have been ways to acknowledge and decry modern war’s pursuit of those populations. We will discuss how the criminalization of student protests has been a response to that acknowledgment and denunciation.

Roderick A. Ferguson is the William Robertson Coe Professor of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies and American Studies at Yale University. He is the author of One-Dimensional Queer (@politybooks 2018), We Demand: The University and Student Protests (@uc_press 2017), The Reorder of Things: The University and Its Pedagogies of Minority Difference (@uminnpress 2012), and Aberrations in Black: Toward a Queer of Color Critique (@uminnpress 2004).

All proceeds from our workshops benefit collectives and initiatives on the ground in Gaza that are sustaining life amidst world-ending violence by distributing food, water, tents, medication, and even providing educational activities to children. We view these opportunities to gather and learn together as a chance to pool our resources to materially support the Palestinian people.

Please donate generously!

1/20 (Online) 12pm - Book talk: "My Brother, My Land: A Story from Palestine" with authors Sami Hermez & Sireen Sawalha (Balsillie School of Int'l Affairs)

January 20 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm EST - Online

Book talk: My Brother, My Land: A Story from Palestine

Balsillie School of International Affairs

In 1967, Sireen Sawalha’s mother, with her young children, walked back to Palestine against the traffic of exile. My Brother, My Land is the story of Sireen’s family in the decades that followed and their lives in the Palestinian village of Kufr Ra’i. From Sireen’s early life growing up in the shadow of the ’67 War and her family’s work as farmers caring for their land, to the involvement of her brother Iyad in armed resistance in the First and Second Intifada, Sami Hermez, with Sireen Sawalha, crafts a rich story of intertwining voices, mixing genres of oral history, memoir, and creative nonfiction. Through the lives of the Sawalha family, Hermez confronts readers with the politics and complexities of armed resistance and the ethical tensions and contradictions that arise, as well as with the dispossession and suffocation of people living under occupation and their ordinary lives in such times. Whether this story leaves readers discomforted, angry, or empowered, they will certainly emerge with a deeper understanding of the Palestinian predicament.

About the Speakers

Sami Hermez, PhD, is the director of the Liberal Arts Program and associate professor of anthropology at Northwestern University in Qatar. He obtained his doctorate degree from the Department of Anthropology at Princeton University. He is the author of War is Coming: Between Past and Future Violence in Lebanon (UPenn 2017), which focuses on the everyday life of political violence in Lebanon and how people recollect and anticipate this violence, and My Brother, My Land: A Story from Palestine (Stanford 2024), that tells the story of a Palestinian family resisting ongoing Israeli settler colonialism. His broader research concerns include the study of social movements, the state, the future, memory, violence, and critical security in the Arab World.

Sireen Sawalha, born in the small village of Kufr Rai in Jenin, Palestine, comes from a family deeply connected to the region’s rich history. She moved to the US in 1990 and completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Rider University. Recognized by Cornell University for her outstanding contributions to education in 2022, Sireen serves as a social studies teacher in New Jersey. Beyond academia, she is a passionate chef and compelling storyteller, sharing her family’s experiences under occupation. Sireen raises awareness about Palestinian culture and actively contributes to the struggle for Palestinian freedom. My Brother, My Land is the story of her family.

Jan 19, 2025 03:00 PM - Zoom

Voices from the Holy Land Online Film Salon: "Marketing the Occupation: Part 3 - The Social Media Battleground in a Time of War"

Israel and pro-Israel advocacy groups have spent hundreds of millions of dollars on social media messaging to build “Brand Israel” and sway U.S. public opinion. Such campaigns have influenced elections, inserted falsehoods into news cycles, and intimidated decision-makers into funding weapons for Israel. But there is resistance.

For example, Wikipedia has deemed the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) “a generally unreliable source” on the war in Gaza. Students assert their First Amendment rights, protesting on campuses, advocating for boycotts, and sharing news directly from Gaza. What are the dimensions of this social media battle for the “hearts and minds" of the American public?

Register below and join us on January 19 at 3:00 PM Eastern for a discussion of the use and impact of social media with:

- Omar Zahzah – Assistant Professor, AMED Studies, San Francisco State University

- Katie Halper – Host, “The Katie Halper Show” (WBAI) and Co-Host, “Useful Idiots”

- Bryce Greene – FAIR Student Organizer, Indiana University Bloomington

Our moderator will be Maya Berry, Executive Director of the Arab American Institute.

Active military and veterans of conscience have resisted the U.S. war machine for generations and the fight continues. With the threat of mass mobilization for military actions like mass deportation, protest repression, and more, we understand that the need for capacity to support service members resisting unethical or illegal orders will only increase in the coming months.

The Military Law Task Force plays a critical role in supporting these service members whose rights are being violated or who are facing consequences for their resistance. Join us for an information session on how to get involved with the Military Law Task Force to support military free speech and the right to resist illegal and unethical orders.
